TV Show "Beauty University"

Television is one of the channels for us to discover pop culture. Most people like to watch TV show as we can relax ourselves and get the latest information from TV. Nowadays, there are many kinds of TV show to transfer the information about pop culture as fashion show, entertainment, music and movie chart.

When I was in China, I really liked to watch TV show called “Beauty University”. This TV show is to introduce the latest fashion to lady, and teach lady how to keep themselves beautiful from inside to outside. In the modern society, most people want to become outstanding. However, there are many daily things to deal with. Through this TV show, we can learn what the latest fashion is even though we are busy for daily chores. In the front of TV, we can have chance to know more about fashion from all over the world.

In my spare time, I really like to watch that kinds of TV show, which can enlarge my view on the latest fashion. I hope I will discover another TV show in my new life in Chicago which I am interested in.

"Only Hope"

“Love is just like a wind, you cannot see it, but you can feel it.” I learned it from one of my favorite movie “A Walk to Remember”. I should say that is a wonderful movie to tell us what is the meaning of true love. Except that, I got my precious gift as I found the magical song “Only Hope” from this movie. I cannot count how many times I listen to this song since I met it in my life.

The genre of “Only Hope” is piano pop. The roots of piano rock can be traced to 1950s rock-and-roll pioneers Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Fats Domino. Besides, piano pop is a term for a style of rock music that is based around the piano. Using piano to perform the song “Only Hope” is a perfect match. The rhythm and the word made this song are so attracted. The soul of the song is about love expressing the feeling how I love you much. Mandy Moore is a perfect singer to sing this song. The best song should be with the great rhythm with the matched singer.

Until now, I still love this song “Only Hope”. Sometimes we have no reason to fall in love with one thing, but that is a magical thing for us having unforgettable memory in our life. “Love is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure, whatever comes .” Song is my favor, I love it as giving me a wonderful moment and letting me to think about my life, my future.

Popular culture reflects our tastes and preferences at any given time, past or present. In addition, high culture is also an important part in our life. The pop culture of the past may become the high culture of the present. The relationship between pop culture and high culture is intimate, which affected by each other in some aspects.

When we wanted to find more information about pop culture, we felt glad to interview the elder couple to share their opinions on pop culture and high culture. The link to glog was our interview experience. The elder couple told us that they prefer to high culture as the pop culture is changed fast. However, they also liked pop culture which can give themselves having modern ideas to contact with younger people.

That was a wonderful experience for us to know more about pop culture and high culture going out class. To contact with strangers will give us valuable information. Besides, we also improve our ability of speaking.

My Favorite Article

“They’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught” was the first article I learned from my class pop culture. Besides, this article is one of my favorite articles during this semester. The author depicted the story from her daughter to reflect the serious question about children should be taught cultural diversity at their earlier time. Through my learning this article, it made me have a depth though about the significant of culture diversity to children.

U.S is an immigration country. Thus, it is existed different kinds of culture in one country. Elementary education is one of the most important periods in every one’s life. Through this article, I learned that children were taught different cultural diversity in their preschool. In fact, knowing different cultures and ethnicities can enlarge our world view. However, is it possible for children to differentiate themselves with cultural diversity at their earlier time? Through the author’s story, I learned that it is too earlier to transfer cultural diversity to children.

In my opinion, children are the leadership in our future to make our world better and better. With the improvement of globalization, elementary education should emphasis on how to let children know we are the same, even though they are come from different country. In our society, there are many discrimination phenomena as people have different though on their way. Education is one of the most important ways to establish our view especially elementary education.

Technology in My Life

With the improvement of economic, technology becomes one of the most important parts in our daily life. There are many kinds of updated technology appeared on our surrounding as cell phones, computers, iPods, DVD player, digital camera and microwave. We can find any of technology easily, which is related with our daily life closely in the modern society. Technology not only makes our life easily, it also let us have a rich and colorful life.

In my life, I live with different types of technology as cell phone, laptop, digital camera, MP3, DVD, TV, PSP and electronic dictionary. It makes me convenient to communicate with my friends and relatives by cell phone, to get the latest information through TV and computer and to relax my life through MP3, DVD and PSP. Consequently, the technology has a great influence on my life. In addition, we gradually are accustomed ourselves to technology. In other words, technology has a great influence on our life even on our mood. However, we should have our own idea to differentiate which technology is necessary and which is luxuries for us. Technology changes everyday, but we should be a smart consumer to choose the suitable one for us.

Overall, technology makes our life wonderful. In my own experience, technology is a good helper in my life only if you use it in a right attitude. Technology plays a role in determining future fads and trends, most people like to follow the latest and updated technology to benefit their life.

Forrest Gump Review

I have never seen a movie like Forrest Gump, which is a magical movie that let me have a deep thought about my life. “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are gonna get.” That is a significant sentence from Forrest Gump’s mother at the beginning of movie. The film narrates different experience in Forrest Gump’s life continuously to prove this sentence to audience.

Tom Hanks, one of the best world’s actors won Best Actor in this film, is the only and the perfect man portrayed a role Forrest Gump. This film is directed by Robert Zemeck whose films are characterized by an interest in state-of-the-art special effects. Besides, Forrest Gump won six academy awards, including Best Picture, Best Visual Effects, Best Director, and Best Actor. In addition, the movie is with great background music to let the audience having a strong impression.

The film opens with a low IQ man, Forrest Gump, telling his significant historic events in his life to the stranger when he is waiting for a bus. That is one of the most special techniques in this film to connect the different story telling to different audience in the bus station, which make a great effect to emphasize on the theme of this film. The other special technique is that there are two clues in this film: one is Forrest Gump’s life and the other is Jenny’s life. Through contrasting with their different fate, it reflects the phenomenon of U.S at that time.

The one steady thread is Forrest Gump’s love for his mother. Forrest Gump is with his simplicity and innocent but understands everything. Even though Forrest is a “foolish” boy, his mother always encourages him and gives him confidence to face his life. Forrest Gump keeps his mother ‘s words to face all the difficulty events during his life. “Stupid is as stupid does”. Forrest Gump is with his innocent thoughts on what living is all about. He creates his extraordinary life with his “intelligence”.

What is the meaning of this outstanding movie? You will get the exactly meaning from the movie Forrest Gump. We have never known what will happen in the next minute, but we can make it better with optimistic attitude in our life. I think you will not only have an enjoyable time when you watch this movie, you will also have a view of your life through Forrest Gump’s life.

Pop Culture Reflection

Pop culture is connected to our daily life directly. From learning pop culture in depth this semester, I touched pop culture from many aspects as movie, song and technology. In fact, we are influenced by pop culture from many aspects in our daily life. Pop culture seems like one of my best friends in my life, it is always beside with me transferring the latest information to make my life rich and colorful. I can enjoy my time from movie and song, which sometimes give me a depth thought about life, and sometimes relax myself from pressure study and life. Besides, technology is a useful tool. We have more comfortable and flexible life as technology.

In my opinion, I am as a young person addicted by pop culture. I like to follow fashion magazine to know which one is the most popular in this season. Following pop culture is a good way to enlarge my view and to know more about our world. Before I immigrated to U.S, I prefer to listen to Asian music and to watch movie in Chinese. However, I gradually change my own pop culture in aspects of movie and song. Now I am in U.S, I also prefer to music and movie from America. Besides, the style of dress is a little different from China I found when I came to U.S. That is also one aspect of pop culture. Although I still like my dress style, I also like to follow different pop culture in different country.

We can find pop culture everywhere. However, I want to be a sensible person to follow pop culture. Every coin has two sides, we should consider which side is the suitable one for us. From learning pop culture in this class, I got more information about pop culture and knew how pop culture affects our life. It is a valuable course to let me know pop culture.
